Apple is set to launch the next generation of iPhones in an event which is scheduled to be held this week (September 7). Apart from the upcoming iPhone 14 series, the Cupertino-based tech giant will also reveal the Apple Watch 8 series and the next edition of Apple AirPods Pro. Rumours about the iPhone 14 series are now all over the internet as currently, the Apple 'Far Out' event is the biggest topic in the tech industry.

Last week, rumours about the iPhone 14 Pro? claimed that instead of showing two distinct display cutouts of the upcoming smartphones, they will appear as a single, unified "pill" cutout at the top of the screen. Now, a new report states that iPhone 14 Pro's always-on display feature will add ?unique behaviour" on the Lock Screen and will add some changes to the status bar.

iPhone 14 Pro: Always-on display Lock Screen changes

According to a report by MacRumors, the Lock Screen feature on iOS 16 will interact directly with the ?iPhone 14 Pro?'s always-on display. The new feature is expected to ntegrate with notifications, depth effects and colours of wallpapers.

Moreover, the increased amount of usable space at the top of the display is also expected to allow the status bar on the iPhone 14 Pro to see some changes. The report suggests that Apple might move the cellular signal indicator to the left and re-implement the full-width battery status bar on the Lock Screen and notification center if the device is locked.

Apart from this, the report has also shared some images that allegedly illustrate some of the ?iPhone 14 Pro?'s software changes. When the display is in its always-on mode, its foreground will be dimmed, however, the background of Lock Screen wallpapers with a depth effect will be removed and fully darkened. Moreover, the foreground is also expected to be tinted with colour and may feature edge highlights depending on the user's customisation.

Furthermore, to prevent OLED burn-in, widgets will also be visible on the always-on display mode but they will fade in and out at set intervals which will also be unnoticeable to the user.

The report also adds that users have to configure the content shown on the always-on Lock Screen and the full-illuminated Lock Screen in the same way and it cannot be separated. This means that users have to share the same -- wallpaper, colour choices, fonts and widgets -- for both Lock Screens. However, users can independently customise the core visual elements of the always-on display.

iPhone 14 Pro: Always-on display changes on notifications

As per the report, the ?iPhone 14 Pro?'s always-on display experience will also include some changes for the notifications. The report states that notifications, while the always-on display mode is enabled, one at a time will work the same way as it does on the normal Lock Screen. All the notifications will roll in from the bottom one-at-a-time and will remain subtly visible for 10 seconds.

Once the display is activated, the notifications will animate from the bottom and start showing in the user-defined setting how they are presented on the Lock Screen (for example -- count, stack, or list). Apple might also allow users to access a notification counter at the bottom of the always-on display, the report claims.

The report suggests that Apple is planning to release an update for iOS 16 right after the launch of the ?iPhone 14 Pro?. This new update will include fixes for issues with the device's always-on display and wallpapers. The feature is currently at the final stages of development, but Apple is reportedly facing bugs and other issues and is using engineers from different teams to finish the always-on display experience before launch.
