Xiaomi's Mijia ecosystem gets AR Glasses with Snapdragon 8 chipset and USD370 price
Xiaomi presented a Smart Glasses concept last year, and the prototype is already a reality, less than a year after the announcement.
The Mijia Glasses Camera are now up for pre-order at the company's in-house crowdfunding platform. The introductory price is CNY2,499 (about USD370) and customers will receive a wearable that's 100 grams and has a custom Snapdragon 8-based chipset, as well as a dual camera setup with 5X optical zoom.
The Snapdragon chip is assisted by 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, and apparently, there is an independent ISP. The display is a product of Sony and is a silicon-based OLED with a peak brightness of 3000 nits, 1800 nits to the eye, 3281 ppi density, and with TUV certification for blue light levels.
The dual camera has a 50MP main sensor with Quad Bayer pixel binning, while the secondary is an 8MP 5x telephoto periscope with OIS and can record up to 100 minutes of video non-stop.
The battery capacity is 1,020 mAh and supports wireless charging at 10W. 30 minutes of charging can bring 80% from flat. Other specs and features include live translation on the screen and native support for Xiaomi's AI assistant XiaoAI.
The product is following the classic crowdfunding recipe - gather pre-orders and then with the money accumulated it starts manufacturing the device. Once the company is ready for straightforward production, the device is said to cost CNY2,699 (around USD400).
