The April 2022 security update from Samsung is now available for Galaxy owners in the United States.

The April 2022 security update began trickling out to Samsung Galaxy handsets in worldwide markets towards the end of March. Owners of the Galaxy S22 Ultra in Asia and Europe have reported receiving the update thus far. Samsung is now extending availability to US users, with the new update now available for all Galaxy S21 5G handsets in the US.

Verizon announced the new patch for Samsung Galaxy smartphones on its help website for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra earlier today. The firmware version on each is G991USQS5CVCB. However, unlike the April patch for the S22 Ultra, which included a slew of camera-related features at least for the Asian version this patch doesn't appear to include any major corrections or UI changes. Instead, we'll get the standard performance tweaks and bug fixes.

Other carriers and non-carrier models should receive the OTA update notification in the coming weeks, as has been traditional for Verizon to lead the upgrade charge. Of course, you can always go to Settings > Software update > Download and install to see if the software is available.

As Samsung publishes the April 2022 fix for more Galaxy flagships and mid-range devices in the United States, we'll update this post.
