Google rolls out this Android TV feature for iPhone users

A few months ago, Google rolled out a new virtual remote feature to the Google TV app. Later, the feature was also added to the Google Home app for Android. With this, users of Android TV and Google TV devices got their access to a virtual remote without downloading Google TV app. Now, the company has announced that it has started rolling out the virtual remote feature for iPhone users as well.

The feature has been rolled out with the Google Home app version 2.48. As per the iOS release notes, the Android TV remote feature will be rolled out to users over the next few days. Once you update the app on your iPhone, you will be able to use the new feature by tapping on your Android TV or Google TV device on the home screen of the app. You will be able to see an 'Open remote' button at the bottom of the screen.

Once you tap on the new button, it will bring up the remote interface. You will be able to pair your Android TV by entering the six-digit code that will appear on your TV screen. Once paired, the remote will provide you access to a trackpad and a D-Pad. The new options can be used to navigate across the user interface. You will also be able to use a keyboard whenever you select a text field on your TV.

Along with a new remote feature, the update brings minor visual changes for the Google WiFi usage stats. The latest update also rearranges the button layout across the user interface.
