Black Shark 5 models will support 120W fast charging, 3C docs reveal

Xiaomi’s gaming-focused smartphone brand BlackShark is gearing up to launch its next flagship devices. The company will launch the BlackShark 5 and a Pro variant in the coming days. The official launch date is currently unknown. However, we can expect the two premium gaming smartphones to launch soon in China.

Ahead of the official launch, the two gaming smartphones have visited the 3C certification website. The listing suggests that the BlackShark flagship devices will launch soon. We have also spotted the phones previously on TENAA. Let’s take a look at the BlackShark 5 series specifications, features, and other details.

Two Black Shark 5 models surfaced on TENAA yesterday, now they have made their way through the 3C, which is interested in what charging speeds they support.

Both phones will do 120W (20V, 6A) using the Xiaomi MDY-12-ED charger. According to TENAA, both phones will have the same battery capacity - 4,650 mAh - so they should charge at the same speed.

This is the same charging speed as the 4-series, though with a slightly bigger battery. A full charge should take around 16-18 minutes, getting to 50% should take around 5 minutes.

We're not 100% clear on the chipsets, but all indications so far point to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 for the Black Shark 5 Pro and a Snapdragon 870 for the Black Shark 5. The Pro will have up to 16 GB of RAM, the other one will top out at 12 GB. Another difference will be the main camera - 108 MP for the Pro, 64 MP for the vanilla phone.

We've heard that the display on the Pro will be a 6.67" AMOLED panel (1080p+) with 144 Hz refresh rate, the regular Black Shark 5 should feature the same (or very similar) display. An official teaser campaign for the new models is yet to start, so official details are not available yet.
