WhatsApp has been working on a feature called multi-device support for a long time. The manner this new feature would work has previously been revealed in previous reports. And now, according to a fresh source, users will be able to use this WhatsApp function exactly when it is released.
WhatsApp will soon allow users to test the first version of its multi-device compatibility feature, according to WABetaInfo. As part of its beta programme, the feature will be available. Users of WhatsApp beta for Android and WhatsApp beta for iOS will be able to use this feature after updating to the current version of WhatsApp's beta software on their handsets.
Early access to multi-device beta will be available very soon, so you can use WhatsApp Web without an internet connection on the phone.
A pop-up that will appear when users get the multi-device support functionality in the app. The pop-up informs the users that with this new WhatsApp feature, they will be able to use the app on up to four devices at once without keeping their phones -- the one with their registered WhatsApp numbers -- online.
The pop-up contains two buttons. While the Learn More button will share more details regarding the working of WhatsApp’s multi-device support feature, the OK button will simply be an acknowledgement for the same. Users will be able to add support for new devices by going to the Account section in WhatsApp’s Settings section.
For those who haven't been following WhatsApp's progress, the app's upcoming feature will allow users to manage their WhatsApp account from up to four additional devices, such as a tablet or a computer, without requiring an active internet connection on their smartphones, as is currently the case with WhatsApp Web. According to sources, WhatsApp users will be able to access this functionality through WhatsApp Web, WhatsApp Desktop, and the Facebook Portal.
It's worth noting that both WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg have stated that multi-device support is coming to WhatsApp this year.
