The microblogging platform revealed today that it is working on at least two new capabilities that will allow users more control over who sees their tweets.
Twitter Friends You Can Trust
Trusted Friends is the first Twitter feature. Users will be able to toggle their tweets from public to private using this functionality. If released, the business claims that its Trusted Friend function will allow users to share a tweet with a small number of trusted pals.
Users will be prompted with a little popup right before publishing a tweet, asking them if they want to share the message with Everyone or just Trusted Friends, according to a screenshot supplied by the business.
Twitter feature would work in a way that is quite similar to Instagram Close Friends feature that gives users the ability to share a post with a pre-select group of friends.
Facets of Twitter
Facets is the other feature, and it allows users to have more granular control over what they share and with whom they share it. While sharing a tweet, it allows users to choose between their identities and likes and dislikes.
A user may, for example, have a professional persona as well as a desire to travel. Tweeps will be able to share only their travel-related tweets with fellow enthusiasts, and all other tweets with anybody who follows their profile, thanks to Facets. People who follow a user might choose to follow a full profile or a single persona of a Tweep.
Twitter KISS
Users will be able to share their tweets with a wider audience by using a single account. Many Twitter users use two accounts to keep their professional and personal lives distinct, and new Twitter additions will make things easier for everyone.
Is Twitter attempting to sail a kite?
However, Twitter has stated that it is currently studying the prospect of providing these capabilities and that they may or may not be implemented. Maybe it's just a way of getting a sense of what the public thinks.
