On June 24, Microsoft will host a Windows event. "The next iteration of Windows," according to Microsoft, will be unveiled.

The announcement of "the next generation of Windows" comes only a week after Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella teased the future of the Windows operating system during the Build 2021 developer conference's keynote address.

“We will soon publish one of the most significant Windows improvements in the last decade to unlock additional commercial opportunities for developers and creators,” Nadella added.

The release of Windows 8, the next version of the operating system, is eagerly awaited. Windows is the most popular operating system for personal computers, but it is in desperate need of an upgrade. Internally, the company is working on the major Windows 10 user interface upgrade known as "Sun Valley."

During the Holiday 2021 season, a major UI refresh is expected to be released. Windows 10 will get a new Start menu and Taskbar layout, as well as new icons, sounds, app designs, and fluid animations, thanks to the Sun Valley project. Microsoft is also rumoured to be reworking the Windows App Store.

Previously, the Redmond-based software behemoth was working on Windows 10X, a lightweight operating system aimed squarely at Chrome OS. It was expected to power a new generation of dual-screen computers and folding gadgets. In fact, Microsoft's futuristic Surface Neo was billed as the Windows 10X showcase gadget. Microsoft, on the other hand, opted to abandon the operating system.
