List of all CPUs that are compatible with Windows 11

On June 24, Microsoft made the formal announcement of Windows 11. If you want to install the new OS, you'll have to wait a while because it won't be available until October or November of this year.

At the Microsoft Event yesterday, Microsoft unveiled the long-awaited Windows 11. The new OS has a fresh new look and some useful feature changes that make work and play go more smoothly. If you're eager to get your hands on Windows 11 as soon as possible, we've got some terrible news for you. You'll have to wait until at least October or November. Also, according to Microsoft, the system requirements for Windows 11 have changed. As a result, Windows 11 may not be compatible with your present computer.

What system configurations do you require for Windows 11?

A 64-bit CPU with at least two cores is now required due to the modified configuration. You'll need at least 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, respectively. TPM 2.0, DirectX 12, and a Precision touchpad are among the other CPU requirements.

Microsoft maintains a list of supported CPUs for Windows 10 and continues to add to it when new processors become available. With the release of Windows 11, some CPUs have been removed from the list. Don't panic if you don't see your CPU on this light right now. Microsoft may change this list in the future, and/or workarounds may be available.

Also, while the official Windows 11 spec requirements call for a 64-bit CPU with at least two cores and a 1GHz clock speed, Microsoft's current list does not reflect that. All sixth-generation Intel chips have likewise been removed from the list.

Dropping support for 6th and 7th-generation Intel processors is significant because it eliminates many of Microsoft's own devices, leaving only the Microsoft Surface Studio 2 on the list. Another item missing from the list is the Microsoft Surface Go's Pentium Gold 4415Y CPU.

Surface Laptop 2 or newer, Surface Book 2 or newer, Surface Pro 6 or newer, Surface Go 2, and the Surface Laptop Go can all run Windows 11. The A-series, FX-series, Ryzen 1000, and most of the Ryzen 2000 CPUs are off the table for AMD consumers. And if you're running Windows on an ARM PC, the Snapdragon 835 is the only chipset that isn't compatible with Windows 11.
