The US-based graphics chip maker has revealed that the cryptocurrency mining capabilities of its GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070, and RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards will be decreased. Previously, Nvidia imposed a similar limit on its RTX 3060 cheap offering.
The move, according to Nvidia, is intentional and will reduce the cards' ability to conduct calculations for validating transactions on the Ethereum network. The decision demonstrates how bitcoin miners have shifted their activities to gaming chipsets.
The company mentioned that its video game cards may easily be converted to mine Ether instead of Bitcoin. Because Ethereum has witnessed significant market growth since the beginning of the year, repurposed GPUs are even more in demand by Ethereum miners.
